Can VB 2010 Expresswork with anything greater than.Net 4.0?Also the newer OS's (Win 8.0/8.1) are really designed for WPF or Silverlight type apps even though Windows.Forms still works on them from what I understand. But unlike VB6r's I'm more into the 'out with the old and in with the new' even thoughI'm a bit behind the times on that usually. Since I still have a Win7 PC and non-smart cell phone which should change within 6 months or so.La vida loca. There is no reason it would not be. There should be a way to create a completely portable version of Microsoft Visual Basic Express 2010. I think that if you used thinapp you could create a portable executable of the program.
I already know of a portable version of Visual Basic Express 2008 that was created using thinapp. The link to it is here:Link removedThis is the 2008 version. Judging by this, wouldn't it make sense that if you used the exact same method on the 2010 version of visual basic express, you could create a portable version of it?
Could someone please try it and let me know? Yes, I agree with you that it is illegal, however that is not the point that I am trying to get across.
I am trying to find out whether or not it would be possible to create a portable version of Visual Basic Express 2010 using this method. The reason I want to know is because I have a computer that is a limited user account, and I have access to a net top. So, I am trying to ask whether or not this would work to be able to program in visual basic express on the limited user account. I do not have access to the admin account and I thought that if this worked for the 2008 edition, it could work for the 2010 edition. I don't see why it wouldn't work, judging by the fact that the 2008 edition worked. Unless they added new files specifically for the purpose of preventing people from doing this, I don't see why it wouldn't work.Btw: I installed visual basic express 2010 on the net book, and then accidentally uninstalled the IDE, so if I run the setup, it will only install the IDE, since everything else is already there. This is a problem, though, because thinapp needs to capture everything, not just the IDE, otherwise it won't work.
Is there anyway to uninstall everything the setup installs so I can install it all again at one time? Hi guys, saw the thread.
As the author of PEBundle (the first in this genre, before ThinApp, though a separate and now discontinued application), I would like to say that it is probably doable, but since VMWare snapped up ThinApp, the only way to legally do it without paying a fortune is maybe with MoleBox (man I hate to advertise for someone else's stuff). I long ago took PEBundle off the market, sadly.IF. you do experience problems, be sure to try the old compatibility settings of Windows, but you know this I'm sure. This is a large sample though, so is the 'test of tests' for whichever application is used;).

The full version of Molebox costs money. The demo version does work, but the application you make is bound to the pc you make it on by hardware ID, so it would not work for what I want to do. However, Cameyo and Evalazer both do the same as Thinapp (they don't contain advanced features, though) and they are both freeware, so I will try one of them. I simply need to wait about an hour before I have access to another pc (not the net top) since the net top already has the components of vb express installed. I will try it in an hour (when I get access to another laptop) and tell you guys the results. If it doesn't work, I could just use Sharp Develop.
